Belyea helps M-S upset Charleston

MAHOMET – Kristin Belyea scored 16 points and Mahomet-Seymour handed Charleston its second loss of the season. Outscoring the Trojans 12-8 in overtime, the Bulldogs won the nonconference game 40-36 Tuesday night.

Judah Christian 49, Decatur Christian 22. Alyssa Chambers scored 14 points and Laura Jarrett added 10 points for the host Tribe, which led 31-9 at halftime. Uzuri Williams added 15 rebounds, eight assists and eight points for the Tribe, which got nine points from Maddie Johnson.

MacArthur 72, Urbana 55. Whitley Pearson had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the host Tigers in Big 12 action. Tiffany Walthour chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers, who led 17-12 after one quarter.

Normal U-High 51, Prairie Central 39. Senior Abby Popejoy scored her 1,000th career point in the loss. Whitney Scurlock led the Hawks with 11 points.

Decatur Lutheran 56, DeLand-Weldon 31. Brielle Jones had 16 points and Mikayla Jones added 12 for the Eagles.

In wrestling:

At Monticello. Austen Schott (103) and Chris King (125) had pins as Centennial beat Monticello 42-36. Luke Dunn (135), Cole Hunt (140), Clay Wright (145), Beau Thomas (152) and Jake Lieb (160) had pins for the Sages.

At Bismarck-Henning. Garrett Carter (130), Stephen Wolfe (140), Cruz Robinson (145), Josh Kessler (215) and Morgan Supergan (275) had pins as B-H beat St. Joseph-Ogden 60-28.

At Oakwood. Cody Davis had a pin in the home team's 39-32 win against Unity.

In swimming:

At Centennial. Blas Garcia-Canga won the 100 free and 100 breast to lead the Chargers past Danville 112-73 in Big 12 action.

Storm Strader won the 100 butterfly and 200 IM for Danville.
