Leeman powers Oakwood

OAKWOOD – Brady Leeman tossed a complete-game one-hitter, fanning eight in Oakwood's 4-0 win against Milford (7-2) in baseball on Thursday. Milford's Kris Evans led off the game with a single and was subsequently picked off of first base by Leeman (2-0).

"Brady spotted every pitch today," Oakwood coach Bob Sermak said. "He threw a tremendous game, probably the best I have seen him in the four years he has been here."

Johnson nearly perfect in no-hitter

CHAMPAIGN – Timmie Johnson made short work of the opposition Wednesday.

The Champaign Central senior pitched a no-hitter in a 10-0, five-inning win against Kankakee. He struck out seven, walked one and was one pitch away from a perfect game. Johnson also scored twice.

M-S goes back-to-back for win

MAHOMET – Bob Schroeder and Josh Raymond belted back-to-back two-out home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday to lift Mahomet-Seymour to a 2-1 baseball triumph against Pontiac.

Parkhill, Sabers roll to baseball win

GILMAN – Joe Parkhill, Dane Krone and Mack Meyer each pounded out four hits for St. Thomas More in the Sabers' 23-3 baseball win against Iroquois West on Thursday. Parkhill's four-hit effort included a home run and Parker Stewart went 3 for 4 and stole two bases for the Sabers in the five-inning contest.

Flessner, Martinez power Chargers win

ST. JOSEPH – Jake Flessner and Taylor Martinez each hit two-run homers to lead Centennial to a 7-2 nonconference baseball victory against St. Joseph-Ogden on Wednesday.

Fisher's Hennigh pitches in

FISHER – Caleigh Hennigh pitched a no-hitter Tuesday to lead Fisher to a 7-0 softball victory against Iroquois West.

Hennigh struck out five and did not walk a batter. Fisher (1-1) led 5-0 after three innings.

Broncos move into LOVC lead

CERRO GORDO – Drew Minton scored 23 points and doled out 10 assists to lead Cerro Gordo to a 74-52 win against Martinsville on Tuesday and help the Broncos take over sole possession of first place in the Little Okaw Valley Conference.

Nathan Lawler (15 points) and Jordan Ramay (10 points, eight assists) also reached double figures for Cerro Gordo, and Tyler Phelps (four points) led the team with 10 boards.

Davis lifts Danville; STM clinches crown

DANVILLE – Eriel Davis posted a team-high 13 points to pace Danville to a 50-48 win against St. Joseph-Ogden on Saturday in nonconference girls' basketball.

St. Thomas More 49, CPCI 28. Kassie Jones had nine points and 12 rebounds to help the Sabers earn their third Sangamon Valley Conference title in four years.

Boys' roundup: Leeman, Oakwood rally

FITHIAN – Brady Leeman scored 18 points and Oakwood rallied in the fourth quarter for a 49-47 victory Friday in prep boys' basketball.

Oakwood outscored the Cornjerkers 18-13 in the final period to erase a three-point deficit.

Gilliam lifts Central past rival

CHAMPAIGN – Mia Gilliam had 11 points and 12 rebounds as host Champaign Central beat Centennial 54-38 in a Big 12 girls' basketball game Thursday. The Maroons also got four steals and three assists from Nakyra James.
