The new three-class system already is paying off for the Maroons, who won their first regional title in wrestling in 42 years. In all, Central will send 12 wrestlers to this weekend's sectional at Springfield.

Not only did the Sabers complete the first undefeated conference season (8-0) in school history by defeating St. Joseph-Ogden, but they also knocked off one of the state's top Class 2A teams, Bismarck-Henning 44-34.



Retiring coach Dave Markwell is being sent off in style by his guys, who captured their fifth regional title last weekend in Class 1A. No one came close to stopping the Comets, who ran away from the field at Unity by 83 points.



Make that 19 straight regional titles for the Bulldogs, who captured their latest title by dominating the field last weekend at Pontiac. They sent six wrestlers to the top of the medal stand with championships.
