PAXTON – St. Joseph-Ogden scored touchdowns on eight of its first 10 possessions in a 68-0 victory against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Friday night.
Lucas Gones had 147 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, and Will Lindsey had 125 yards and two touchdowns on five rushes.
SJ-O (9-0), the No. 1 team in Class 3A, racked up 357 rushing yards and 67 yards on 2-of-5 passing.
Both receptions resulted in touchdowns, one for Lukas Graves, who now has 21 receptions and 12 touchdowns on the year, and another for Cullen Hesterberg on a 32-yard grab.
"We played with a sense of purpose," St. Joseph-Ogden coach Dick Duval said. "We came here to play hard, and we did. We know we're playing next week so it was easy to get the guys motivated."
Also scoring for the Spartans, who led 54-0 at halftime, were Tyler Johnson, Clayton Goodwin and Zach Becker.
Becker blocked a punt in the first quarter that Zach Flessner scooped up and ran in for another Spartans score.
Ricky Tester led the Panthers with 88 rushing yards as PBL finished its season 1-8.
"They're the No. 1 team in the state, and they showed it," PBL coach Jim Zenner said. "We didn't do much right."
