Saturday's highlights: Rainy day for state golf

Golf
Heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the final round of the IHSA boys’ golf state tournaments on Saturday in the Bloomington-Normal area.
The girls’ tournaments in Decatur were plagued by soggy weather, too, but were completed after delays.
The final results for the boys will be based on Friday’s opening round. In Class 1A, Bismarck-Henning finished in a tie for sixth place, and Blue Devils junior Andy Bott tied for eighth individually.
In the 1A girls’ tournament, senior Brooklyn Hildreth led Mahomet-Seymour to ninth place in the 12-team field. Hildreth shot a second-round 90 for a 177 total and tied for 46th place. Courtney LaFoe of Salt Fork was the top area scorer, tying for 44th with a 176.

Football
Monmouth-Roseville 36, SJ-O 27.
After falling behind 20-0, visiting St. Joseph-Ogden saw its rally fall short and lost for the first time this season. The Spartans (7-1) cut their deficit to 21-7 at halftime on 63-yard scoring pass by Dalton Walsh in the second quarter. Walsh ran for two second-half scores, and SJ-O drew within 28-27 on a 16-yard TD run by Austin Hedrick with 8 minutes, 51 seconds left.
