Positive signs for Hamilton, Unity

Among active area football coaches, Unity’s Scott Hamilton is the most successful once getting his teams into the quarterfinal round.

Entering Saturday’s Class 3A game (2 p.m.) at Williamsville, Hamilton’s Rockets have won eight consecutive quarterfinal contests.

Overall, his teams are 8-2 when attempting to reach the semifinals.

Hamilton’s overall postseason record is 37-18.

The area’s active coach with the most quarterfinal appearances (13) is St. Joseph-Ogden’s Dick Duval. Overall, the area school that has fared the best in quarterfinal games (with a minimum of six played) is Arcola with a 10-2 record.

Hamilton’s Rockets have qualified for the playoffs all 19 years of his tenure at the school. This is the 11th year he has guided Unity to at least the quarterfinal round.
