Kroner's football tour: PBL

PAXTON — If Jeff Graham were preparing for basketball, he might be in a bit of trouble with two starters standing less than 5-foot-7.

It won’t be a problem, however, to have Jordan Anderson and Will Boman on the football field.

“They are two of our strongest kids,” Graham said. “We have four kids that bench (press) over 300 pounds, and those guards are two of them.”

Drew Schrodt needs 1,529 yards to become the school’s career rushing leader. With 1,547 yards, he’d also set a single-season record.

Graham has enough depth at tackle that he is considering a rotation system with Kyler Foellner, Hunter Johnson, Cory Smith and Jake Stevenson. Smith is the lone senior among the tackles. Stevenson is a 285-pound sophomore who made the elite team at the summer Roberto Garza Camp.

Center Conrad Powell along with tight ends Brock Swanstrom and Hunter Weber are underclassmen.

The defensive unit will have much more of a veteran look. Nine starters are back, and Graham said, “It’s a nice nucleus of returnees.”

Quarterback Weston Weber and wingback Trent Wooten are fixtures in the secondary. Schrodt, whom Graham said “is getting a lot of (college) looks,” is at linebacker. Anderson is the nose guard.

Weston Weber has played on varsity since his freshman year. As a quarterback, Graham said, “he is solid, smart and strong.”

PBL opens at El Paso-Gridley.
