Danville takes one on the chin

CHICAGO — State-ranked St. Rita scored 42 first-half points, putting up a running clock, and kept Danville scoreless until Trent Sherfield hooked up with Chris Collier on a 48-yard fourth-quarter pass play. The Vikings managed nine first downs and 194 total yards in a 42-7 nonconference loss Friday night.

“Our kids kept plugging away until the end,” Danville coach B.J. Luke said. “They are a real good ballclub, much better than a year ago.”
