Rantoul changes things up

RANTOUL — Homecoming wasn’t much fun for the Eagles at Bill Walsh Field. The unbeaten Pioneers scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and never looked back.
U-High quarterback Arion Worthman ran for two scores and threw two touchdowns to Joseph Hughes and another to Kane Wildermuth.
“U-High is the best team we faced,” Rantoul coach Ira Jefferson said. “I told the kids to play hard and don’t quit. Many times, we had them bottled up but then missed tackles to give up big plays. This week, we didn’t lay down.”
Rantoul switched from Tim Morgan to Anthony Parker at quarterback late in the first quarter. Parker threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Kenyatta Wilson and a 79-yard pass to Devine Thompson in the third.
“The good thing is Anthony is just a sophomore,” Jefferson said. “He didn’t play football in the summer, but he finally made his mind up to play. I’m happy with the way Anthony played.”
Jefferson said he will decide later next week if Morgan or Parker will start against Prairie Central. Morgan added a 1-yard scoring run in the final seconds.
Rantoul senior defensive end Davion Reder left the fourth quarter with a right dislocated kneecap, which Jefferson said might be season-ending.
