Chicago Bears honor Albaugh

CHAMPAIGN — The Chicago Bears on Thursday selected a lifelong fan as its high school Coach of the Week.

The Week 7 recipient is Champaign Central head coach Nate Albaugh, whose 3-4 Maroons won at Danville, 39-14, last week.

“The first thing I thought was how hard our staff has worked,” Albaugh said. “They’ve worked so hard, and I end up with the honor. I feel bad about that.”

Albaugh and the other eight weekly winners this season will be recognized at the Bears’ Dec. 29 game in an on-field ceremony.

The Maroons face Centennial in tonight’s Battle of Champaign with the winner earning the Twin City championship.

“It’s fun to be playing meaningful games,” Albaugh said
