Onycai Lawson breaks out in loss

CHARLESTON — Rantoul ended up with a close defeat to the host Trojans, 33-26, but they have found an important option to use the rest of the season.

Onycai Lawson returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and added a 65-yard touchdown run to almost single-handedly keep the Eagles — who committed six turnovers — in the game before Charleston pulled away in the fourth quarter.

“I’ve been telling everybody I talk to from the preseason until now, that kid is a beast,” Rantoul coach Ira Jefferson said. “This young man does things you cannot teach. I’ve never seen a (running) back that big that can move like he can.”
