ARGENTA — Argenta-Oreana football is in the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2003.

But even after a 44-23 home win over Fisher on Saturday in a Class 1A second-round playoff game, Bombers coach Steve Kirk kept the postgame celebration brief. He broke his team out on its home turf after less than a minute of having it huddled up.

MONTICELLO — Seniors Alek Bundy and Asher Bradd accounted for all seven of Monticello's touchdowns in a 49-14 home win against Anna-Jonesboro in a Class 3A second-round playoff matchup.

Bundy caught three TD passes from quarterback Braden Snyder and rushed for another as the Sages turned a 21-14 halftime lead into a 35-point win with 28 unanswered points in the second half.

Week 11 prep football storylines: Running at full speed

1 Paxton-Buckley-Loda's defense had played relatively well this season.

The Panthers posted a shutout in Week 3 during a 35-0 win against Iroquois West. They only allowed one touchdown during a 26-8 win at Georgetown-Ridge Farm, an eventual playoff team, in Week 2. And PBL displayed a strong showing during a 49-7 win at Momence in Week 5.
