Saturday's highlights: Schlarman earns VVC share

In girls’ basketball

■ Decatur Lutheran 51, Urbana Uni High 34.
The Illineks trailed 26-16 at halftime of the championship game and could not make up any ground in the second half. EMMA HOYER led Uni with 12 points and eight rebounds. MADELINE NELSON (eight points) and KAILA SIMPSON (seven points, six rebounds) also chipped in.

■ Judah Christian 34, Bloomington Cornerstone 27. KRISTINA LEE had a game-high 21 points, including two three-pointers late, and six steals to lead the Tribe to a double-overtime win during the third-place game. LESLEE CHAMBERS added seven points, seven rebounds and seven steals, while CARA NASH had eight rebounds and five steals.

■ Buckley Christ Lutheran 39, Normal Calvary 36. OLIVIA JANSSEN paced the Crusaders with a game-high 18 points, while ANDREA DeBELLA contributed 16 points as Buckley Christ Lutheran held on to win the consolation championship after taking a 27-18 lead into the fourth quarter.

■ Decatur Eisenhower 43, Champaign Central 42.
LAURA LITCHFIELD pumped in a game-high 22 points, made five steals and distributed four assists, but the visiting Maroons could not hold on to their 35-34 lead they had at the start of the fourth quarter. DANYAE SCHOFFNER added six points for Central.

■ Urbana 45, Decatur MacArthur 41. KARIDIA SHELBY had a game-high 18 points, while KIARA MOSES contributed 17 points and the Tigers held on for the home win. Urbana outscored the Generals 18-0 in the second quarter.

■ Danville 29, Bloomington 21.
The Vikings — behind 11 points and six rebounds from LYNETTE BUGGS and 10 points, six steals and five rebounds from ALEXUS JIMSON-MILLER ­— earned a home win.

■ Washington 38, Mahomet-Seymour 34. The host Bulldogs received 16 points from KRISTEN BELYEA and 17 rebounds from HANNAH CHARTER but could not pull out a nonconference win after falling behind 32-27 to start the fourth quarter.

■ Schlarman 40, Milford 30. The host Hilltoppers claimed a share of the Vermilion Valley Conference title with Georgetown-Ridge Farm after their 11th straight win. HOLLY HUCKSTADT had a game-high 15 points while SIERRA BELL (eight points) and SYDNE BRYANT (seven points) also contributed. ALISSA TOTHEROH led the Bearcats with 12 points.

In boys’ swimming

■  At Normal.
Danville’s JON DELZELL had the lone area first-place finish during the Big 12 Meet at Normal Community, winning the 50-yard freestyle race in 22.61 seconds. The Vikings took fifth at the seven-team meet. Champaign Central’s EVAN MILLER placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.95) and teammate GARRETT BARNARD placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (59.12) to lead the Maroons to a third-place finish. ERIK HEINE of Urbana had a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.51), but the Tigers finished last, and JORDAN YOUNG’S third-place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.27) led Centennial, which took sixth.
