Recently: Became the program’s first wrestling state qualifier since the three-school co-op was bumped up to Class 2A. He placed fourth in the Chatham Sectional at 195 pounds, improving his season record to 23-7 with 14 pins.

In his own words: “I’ve been working hard since my junior year, when I almost made it (finishing one win away from qualifying). Jeremy (Rivers, practice partner) definitely pushed me. Without him, I probably wouldn’t have tried that hard.”

Recently: Helped the third-seeded Timberwolves (21-8) win three games and the Class 1A regional title at Chrisman. She had three double-doubles, totaling 57 points and 49 rebounds (22 in the title game) while hitting 19 of 23 free throws.

In her own words: “It was a long week, but it turned out OK. We felt more sure we could do it after the first win. We trust each other a lot.”
