Thursday's prep highlights: Hilltoppers cruise, as Peoples nets double double

Class 2A ALAH Regional

Sullivan 40, Tuscola 34. The fifth-seeded Redskins (15-12) stunned the second-seeded Warriors (22-5) and will continue their season at 6 p.m. Monday in a St. Anthony Sectional semifinal game against Marshall.

Class 2A Reed-Custer Regional

Peotone 43, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 36. The second-seeded Panthers (20-8) saw their season conclude in the title bout. Third-seeded Peotone advances to face St. Joseph-Ogden at 6 p.m. Monday in an Iroquois West Sectional semifinal game.

Class 2A Watseka Regional

Watseka 54, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 28. The top-seeded Warriors defended their own home court by winning a regional title and clinching a spot in Monday's sectional semifinal game at Iroquois West with a convincing victory against the fourth-seeded Falcons. GCMS had no answer for Summer Cramer, who dropped in a game-high 29 points, while Kennedy Bauer compiled a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (30-1). Mallory Drake added eight points and eight rebounds for Watseka, who will play either Monticello (20-4) or Oakwood (26-3) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Gilman. Megan Moody scored a team-high 11 points for GCMS (17-3), which trailed 18-4 at the end of the first quarter, while Makenzie Bielfeldt chipped in eight points.

Class 1A Illinois Lutheran Regional

Cissna Park 45, Dwight 33. Gabby Wessels poured in 23 points and made it a double-double with 14 rebounds as the second-seeded Timberwolves (21-9) advanced to play Lexington at 6 p.m. Monday in a Ridgeview Sectional semifinal game. Wessels also produced three assists and hit 6 of 6 free throw bids. Olivia Powell added 10 points and five boards for Cissna Park.

Class 1A Milford Regional

Schlarman 57, Milford 19. Anaya Peoples compiled 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to lift the top-seeded Hilltoppers to a regional title. Teammate Janiah Newell led all scorers with 17 points. Emily Duis finished with six points and eight rebounds for the Bearcats (14-13). The Hilltoppers (28-1) will meet St. Teresa at 7:30 p.m. Monday in a Ridgeview Sectional semifinal game.

Class 1A Nokomis Regional

Tri-County 48, Nokomis 38. The top-seeded Titans used a strong second quarter to fend off the host fourth-seeded Redskins in winning a regional title. Tayler Barry contributed 12 points and six steals, while Maiya Eskew finished with 12 points and four assists and Harley Barry added 11 points as Tri-County (26-4) outscored Nokomis 17-4 in the second quarter to hold a 27-10 halftime lead. Tri-County will face either Oblong or Brownstown/St. Elmo at 7:30 p.m. Monday in a North Clay Sectional semifinal game.

Class 1A Fisher Regional

Lexington 49, Ridgeview 43. The top-seeded Mustangs (20-10) saw their season end with a regional title game defeat against No. 4 Lexington.

ACSI Tournament

Victory (Ind.) 39, Arthur Okaw Christian 22. The Conquering Riders (18-9) fell in the quarterfinals in Kankakee despite eight points from Lyla Kauffman and seven points from Lillian Messmore.


Centennial 44, Peoria Manual 37. The host Chargers closed out the regular season with a Big 12 win. Amia Wright scored a game-high 13 points to lead Centennial (6-19), while Shoentera Russell (11 points) and Taliah Pemberton (nine points) aided the Chargers' offense.

Mahomet-Seymour 66, Taylorville 53. The Bulldogs (14-11) concluded the regular season with an Apollo Conference triumph thanks to a 21-6 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter. Erin Lenschow dumped in 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for M-S, while Kailyn Northrup and Amanda Franklin each netted 12 points.

Pontiac 48, Prairie Central 44. Emily Wilson generated 14 points, but the Hawks (9-15) were done in by an Illini Prairie Conference opponent in non-league action to cap the regular season. Elly Haberkorn produced 12 points for Prairie Central.
