It's not always the case for high school students, going through the challenges associated with growing up and preparing for life beyond the bubble they've often occupied for a majority of their lives.

2018 N-G girls' basketball Coach of the Year | Schlarman's Keith Peoples

Why he's Coach of the Year: Along with his trusty quartet of assistants — Jerry O'Neal, Ollie Harrison, David Gouard Jr. and LaTana Lillard — as well as his "personal head and assistant coaches" in wife Tricia and son Keison, Peoples spurred the Hilltoppers to previously unseen heights.

N-G Final Top 10 | 2018 girls' basketball


1. Schlarman 33-1: History was made at Redbird Arena when coach Keith Peoples' Hilltoppers captured the Class 1A state championship, the first title in program history.

2. Monticello 23-5: Coach Dave Beery's Sages ran into Class 2A state runner-up Chicago Harlan in the super-sectional round to cap an impressive season.
