Brother Mick played baseball at Notre Dame, sister Annie was a basketball player at Saint Mary’s College and sister Sheila plays volleyball at North Carolina. Brother Colin and sister Bridget were prep athletes at Benet Academy.

URBANA — Urbana senior volleyball player Sophie Davenport will head to Olivet Nazarene University to continue her volleyball career. The Tigers, who compete in NAIA Division II, finished 24-19 last season and won the South Division of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
CHICAGO — Tori McCoy wanted to prove something, she said a few weeks before Wednesday’s McDonald’s All-American Game.
The St. Thomas More senior hoped to show that she was still one of the top players in the nation, like she was before an ACL injury robbed her of most of her junior year. She wanted to wow the crowd and even suggested that she might try to throw down a dunk.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Roger McClendon ran into former Kansas and NBA star Danny Manning on the AAU circuit last summer.
McClendon was there as a dad, with both of his sons playing. Manning was there as the newly-minted Wake Forest men’s basketball coach.
