Girls’ Golf Coach of the Year

Girls’ Golf Coach of the Year

Why she's coach of the year: Not only did Hettermann lead St. Thomas More to within a stroke of her fifth state trophy, she's molded Player of the Year Alaina Bowie since she was in the sixth grade.

Season highlights: "Getting to state as a team and placing fourth."

A few of my favorites: Moment of the season: Seeing Alaina start out with a bogey and still shooting a 64 in the first tournament of the year. ... First year as a high school coach: Over 36 years ago in Ohio. ... Dessert: Creme brûlée. ... Pro/college sports team: Green Bay Packers and Marquette basketball. I grew up in Milwaukee. ... Dream vacation destination: If I could travel any place in the world, I would go on a cruise around the world. I have already been to 20-plus countries and plan on going to four of the Greek islands this summer with two of my granddaughters. ... Favorite way to spend your free time: Reading on a beach. ... Three things on my bucket list: Go to Australia, go back to Ireland and play golf at Pebble Beach. ... What I enjoy most about coaching: "Spending time with the girls and watching them improve every year."
