Potsch, Tigers win in OT
CHAMPAIGN — After surviving a tight regional semifinal Wednesday night, Urbana coach Randy Blackman had no choice but to look ahead.
Anna Potsch scored midway through the overtime, lifting the Tigers to a 1-0 victory against Champaign Central on Wednesday in a Class 2A regional semifinal.
Next up for Urbana: Centennial, which already holds a 7-0 victory this season against Blackman's Tigers.
"They're really good," Blackman said of the Chargers, who beat MacArthur 9-0 on Wednesday night. "We'll do the best we can."
Urbana (8-7-1), which got a shutout from keeper Christina Stark, was able to connect in overtime.
Sophia Ruiz-Gehrt crossed the ball to Potsch, who scored over Central's goalie.
"It was a hard-fought game," Blackman said. "We were fortunate to find the goal."
Centennial 9, MacArthur 0. Grace Ayodele, Katelynn Martinez and Dagny Olson scored two goals apiece, and the Chargers' (13-4-2) defense held the Generals to zero shots on goal.
