URBANA — Wednesday was another tight, physical game between crosstown rivals Central and Centennial.
And thanks to Dagny Olson, the Chargers escaped with a 2-1 regional semifinal victory at Urbana High School.
“I thought we came out flying,” Centennial coach Hsiung Marler said. “Our forwards, that was as good as they looked all season.”
Olson scored in the first half and assisted on Katelynn Martinez’s goal in the second half to help the Chargers advance to Saturday’s 11 a.m. regional final against Mahomet-Seymour.
“Dagny is what she always is. She was simply brilliant,” Marler said.
Keeper Hope Archer made four saves for the Chargers. Central’s Maddy Chalifoux scored on a free kick to tie the match in the second half.
