Sabers girls' soccer claims another regional championship

DECATUR — The feeling never gets old.

Not even after seven consecutive regional titles.

The St. Thomas More girls' soccer team defeated Uni High 3-1 on Friday evening to secure a Class 1A Decatur Lutheran Regional championship, sending STM onto the sectional level for the seventh straight year.

Bloomington 16, Urbana 9. The Tigers (5-18-1) put up 13 hits in a Big 12 Conference loss at Bloomington, with Trae King collecting three hits and scoring three runs.

Charleston 5, Unity 1. The Rockets (4-16) dropped a nonconference decision despite an RBI from Logan Flesch and two hits from Jeremy Gallivan.

DECATUR — The St. Thomas More girls' soccer team could've come out slow in Wednesday's Class 1A Decatur Lutheran Regional semifinal against Judah Christian.

Arthur Okaw Christian 2, Hammond Baptist (Ind.) 1. Three hits and an RBI from Michael Miller and an RBI single from Derrick Shetler proved to be enough offense to lift the Conquering Riders to a nonconference win in eight innings. Peyton Trier went the distance on the mound and didn't surrender an earned run.
