Wise with age: Experienced roster has Sabers one win from state

CHAMPAIGN — Can a prep athletic team really be considered old when all participants are between the ages of 14 and 18?

By high school standards, sure. The St. Thomas More girls' soccer outfit falls into that category as 12 of its 23 varsity participants graduated on Sunday.

And so far in 2018, having that many upperclassmen on its roster has served coach James Johnson well.

Storm claims boys' sectional title

ST. JOSEPH — The Salt Fork boys' track and field team handily claimed the Class 1A St. Joseph-Ogden sectional title on Friday, boasting six sectional titles and three runner-up finishes to knock off 2017 winner Warrensburg-Latham.

DECATUR — The shutouts have happened at a rapid rate for the St. Thomas More girls' soccer team.

Just like the wins.

The Sabers added to both categories Tuesday with a 3-0 win against Hillsboro in a Class 1A Decaur Lutheran Sectional semifinal match.
