MONTICELLO BOYS' CROSS-COUNTRY

Okaw Valley Conference teams finished 1-2 at the Cumberland Invitational (Unity was second) and the meet-champion Sages received a record-breaking 3-mile time (15:12.3) from individual winner Steve Schroeder, the repeat champion. The junior won by 17.5 seconds.

VILLA GROVE FOOTBALL

The state-ranked Blue Devils averaged nearly 31 yards on their eight scoring plays and made Cerro Gordo/DeLand-Weldon its seventh consecutive victim. Quarterback Eric Douglas completed six passes, each to a different receiver, and Jesse Shrum rushed for 137 yards.

ST. JOSEPH-OGDEN VOLLEYBALL

The Spartans raised their winning streak to 15 matches (14 in two-set sweeps), starting with a win over Class 3A Mattoon, sparked by Shelby Geers and Josey Fruhling. SJ-O will try to wrap up an undisputed Sangamon Valley Conference title on Thursday at Paxton.

ST. THOMAS MORE GIRLS' GOLF

The regional champion Sabers tied for the state's third best score out of the 16 regionals and followed up with the top sectional score in Class 1A, led by medalist Sierra Myerscough. STM will seek a fifth straight top four finish at state this weekend in Decatur.

BLUE RIDGE BOYS' SOCCER

The Knights (18-1-2) broke their single-season school record for wins (17), set last year and entered the postseason without a loss in their final 16 regular-season matches. J.J. Malone (46 goals) is close to becoming the area's third 50-goal scorer for a season.
