Russell propels Fisher

FISHER – Shannon Russell homered and had four RBI to support Caleigh Hennigh (4-0) as Fisher beat Georgetown-Ridge Farm 9-5 in the first game of a softball doubleheader Saturday. Chelsea Williamson had two doubles and three RBI and Rachel Kelley added two hits for the Bunnies (5-0).

Fisher completed the sweep 4-3 on Madison Bayler's fifth-inning hit. Amanda Cain had two hits and two RBI, and Williamson struck out seven.

At St. Joseph. Hannah Bowen tripled and doubled, Shelby Immke had two hits and Stephanie Canfield had the winning hit as St. Joseph-Ogden beat Tri-Valley 4-3.

Bowen had two homers and six RBI as SJ-O beat Cumberland 15-0. Audra James and Elizabeth Everingham each had two hits.

Danville 9-1, C-W 3-11. Casey Cromwell had three hits and three RBI and Logan Taylor had three hits and two RBI for the Vikings in Game 1 against Casey-Westfield. Crowmell had two hits in Game 2.

Manteno 6, PBL 2. Liz Satterlee struck out 10 in a losing cause for Paxton-Buckley-Loda.

Westville 12, Centennial 5. Kayla Bryant was 3 for 4 with five RBI and Morgan Ritchie added two hits and two stolen bases for the host Tigers.

Kaley Barak had a triple and three RBI and Katie Blas had a triple and two RBI in the loss.

Hoopeston Area 15-12, Central 0-2. Chelsea Willis was 3 for 4 and Kelsey Sollars pitched a one-hitter for the visiting Cornjerkers in Game 1. Bryce Franklin pitched a complete-game six-hitter in Game 2.

Monica Rondon tripled in the Game 2 loss.

Orion 15-10, Unity 11-0. Brooke Chilton had four hits and two RBI and Kasie Woodworth added two hits and three RBI for the Rockets in Game 1.

Blue Ridge 8-3, Clinton 3-4. Melinda Wilson and Jade O'Neal each had three hits and a home run in Game 1 for the Knights.

LeRoy 4-12, Oakwood 1-2. Sarah Hintz struck out 10 in a complete-game effort in Game 1 for LeRoy, which got two hits from Stephanie Hintz and a triple from Hailey Fritcher.

In Game 2, Stephanie Hintz notched her first varsity win to go with three hits and two RBI. Mary Kline and Ashley Segerstrom each added two hits.

Ashley Wahlfeldt was 3 for 3 with three stolen bases in Game 1 for the Comets.

Bradley-B. 4-16, Rantoul 3-6. Kelsey Gass was 2 for 4 with a home run in Game 1 for the host Eagles. Carlee Silver was 2 for 3 with a double in Game 2.

Prairie Central 4-14, Reed-Custer 1-4. Kathryn Bahler had three hits in the opener and four hits in Game 2 for the Hawks.

At Iroquois West. Karyln Wilken and Nikki Fatka each had two hits in Iroquois West's 10-1 loss to Heyworth. Wilken also had a hit in the Raiders' 18-0 loss to Kankakee.

Herscher 3-4, Watseka 1-8. Erin Cowan, Lauren Krumwiede and Katie Lavoie each had two hits in Game 2 for the Warriors.
