Coach of the Year: St. Thomas More's Jim Tressler

Why he's coach of the year: The Sabers won their first-ever sectional title as a team and advanced two doubles teams and an individual to the Class 1A state meet, where the doubles teams combined for six wins.

Season Highlight: "Winning the team sectional championship for the first time in the history of the St. Thomas More program."

A few of his favorites ...

Food: Seafood/sushi; First car: Pontiac Sunbird; Favorite nonsports hobby: Scuba diving; Favorite local restaurant: It was Yellowfin, but now it's closed; Dream vacation: Scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef; Favorite sporting event I attended live: Australian Open; Favorite pro team: Miami Dolphins; Favorite college team: Illinois; Favorite musician: Jimmy Buffett

Three things on my bucket list: Trip to Ireland, scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef and a safari in Africa

What I enjoy about coaching: "Helping young people improve and enjoy the game of tennis so they play it for their entire life."
