Just days after his senior tennis season at Centennial got underway, the four-time All-Area tennis player informed his coach, Teri Scaggs, that he didn’t have the motivation to play anymore.
He was quitting the team.
Craig Anderson started working for the IHSA in 2011. Starting Jan. 18, 2016, he’ll take over as executive director upon Marty Hickman’s retirement after being named Hickman’s successor Tuesday.

Why she was chosen: The sophomore pitcher improved to 31-2 after the Spartans’ Class 2A sectional-final win on Thursday against Maroa-Forsyth and Monday’s 6-4 triumph against Eureka, one win shy of the single-season area record set by former Spartan Elizabeth Everingham.
We are rapidly approaching my favorite time of the year as well as my least favorite time.
I have developed a love-hate relationship with the end of each prep season. It’s the time to recognize the many outstanding athletes in a sport.

Why she was chosen: The senior won three events at the state meet and scored 34 points for the third-place Redskins. She was also part of the sixth-place 800-meter relay. Her wins were in the long jump, 400 and 200, giving her 15 total state medals in her career (out of a maximum of 16).
