At El Paso. While Urbana Uni High junior Varun Chopra was winning medalist honors by 7 shots on Monday, after a 70 at a Class 1A sectional, Bismarck-Henning’s all-underclassmen team secured the school’s fourth state berth in the past five years.

■ At Urbana. Centennial won the nine-team Tiger Invitational  at Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center behind Lizzie Gile’s wins in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Lauren Feddersen took home the 500-yard freestyle title.

■ Danville 6, Champaign Central 1. Danville got two goals and three assists from Ethan Norton in its Cancer Awareness match win against Central. The Vikings presented Myles Shafer with more than $11,000 to aid in his fight against cancer.

■ At Normal. Centennial’s Cameron Hedge fired a 72 to finish second at Ironwood to advance to next week’s sectional. Teammate Cole Hagan shot 77 and also advanced.


Teams of the Week: A-O volleyball shows way


Behind 23 kills and four blocks from Gillian Jones and 25 assists from Haley Williamson, the Bombers downed Cerro Gordo and Arcola at the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament. Meggan Manning tallied 20 digs over the two games.
