At Rantoul. Emma Cabutti had 15 kills and Hannah Charter 11 digs for Mahomet-Seymour in a 25-18, 22-25, 25-19 victory against Rantoul. Chaquera Cross had 16 digs for the Eagles.

Tuesday highlights: Wachtel powers Chargers

In volleyball

At Armstrong. LAURA GROSS had 13 kills in Schlarman's 25-16, 25-9 victory against Armstrong-Potomac.

At Normal. Kelly Wachtel had eight kills and five digs for Centennial in its 25-14, 27-25 victory against Normal West. Paulina Nottingham recorded 15 assists in the victory.

St. Joseph-Ogden 4, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 2. NICK GEERS scored twice as the Spartans bolted to a 4-0 halftime lead. JON CRAWFORD and AUSTIN BAKER also scored.

Teams of the Week



The Sages won a four-team meet, where they had the top eight finishers, and then won the 21-school Chrisman Cowchip Classic on Saturday. The top three runners, Steve Schroeder, Luke Zocher and Andrew Hanselman, won their flights, and their teammates in four other races placed among the top three.


Bulletin board: Charger already a winner

CHAMPAIGN — Before Centennial senior Abrar Al-Heeti joined forces with teammate Shelby Quigley for a win at No. 3 doubles against Rantoul last week, she was already a winner in her sport.

As a junior, Al-Heeti tried out but was cut. However, she wasn't discouraged.

Thursday's prep highlights: Davis lifts Arthur

In volleyball

At Villa Grove. Hannah Davis' eight kills and Sherelle Coller's five service aces and 16 assists boosted Arthur to a 25-8, 25-6 victory against Villa Grove. Amanda McCollom and Hannah Beeson combined for 23 digs for the Blue Devils.

Wednesday's prep highlights: Black shows way

In boys' golf

At Rantoul. Centennial won the Champaign County Championship at Brookhill as PETER BLACK secured medalist honors with a 69. The Chargers (304) topped runner-up St. Thomas More by 5 strokes. Mahomet-Seymour was third at 312.
