Volleyball Coach of the Year: Stan Bergman, Centennial

Coach of The Year: Stan Bergman, Centennial

Why: The Big 12 Conference co-champions tied a school-record for wins in a season (34) while advancing to the sectional finals in Class 3A. It was the Chargers' fifth straight 30-win season and the best single-season winning percentage in school history (89.5 percent).

Season highlight: "The girls decided on five main goals. We accomplished three of those and were close on two others; five points short of being in the Gold Bracket at Lincoln-Way and four points short of the super-sectional. Being so close to accomplishing all the goals is one of the most memorable things I'll take from this season."

A few of my favorite things: Aerosmith ... Jimmy Buffett ... Bass Pro Shops ... Ferris Bueller's Day Off ... Kamakura ... 1982 Corvette ... To attend the National FCA Convention

About Coach Bergman: "He has been my (volleyball) coach since seventh grade and has taught me everything. He has taught me to take things as they come and learn from your mistakes. He is good at giving advice and will tell you straight up what he thinks, but you have to learn to take his criticism." — junior middle hitter Lauren Cloyd.
