All-Area Volleyball Coach of the Year: Centennial's Stan Bergman

Directed the Chargers to a sixth consecutive 30-win season, the third sectional title in five years, a Big 12 Conference co-championship, a school-record win total (37-5) and the school’s highest finish at the state volleyball tournament (third in Class 3A).

Season highlight: “This season has been a great example of what hard work and dedication stands for. Parents, coaches and players have put so much time, focus and hard work into this season and the sport, it does not surprise me where we finished. We have a team of great depth and positive attitude this year that it made going to practice and being around them almost every day so much fun. Outside of the court, I am very proud to know that these young women are going into the world feeling stronger about themselves, their family, their goals and their faith because they are living tributes of hard work and dedication,” Bergman said.

A few of my favorite things: Pizza ... “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” ... Chris Tomlin ... Aerosmith ... Kamakura Japanese Restaurant ... Corvette ... Pizza delivery ...  Terry Brooks and the “Shannara” series ... Florida State football ... Dallas Cowboys ... Bass Pro Shops.
Three things on my bucket list: Go to the Australian Open, go fishing for European pike and go to Greece with my family.

About Coach Bergman: “He has been my coach every year since seventh grade and has taught me so much I needed to know about the game. He is such a good technical coach. He always knows exactly what you are doing wrong and can help you fix that problem. I think it’s awesome you can tell he has such a passion for the sport. Volleyball is almost like his third child to him.” — Centennial senior outside hitter Kara Johnson
