Coach of the Year: St. Thomas More's Stan Bergman

Coach of the Year: St. Thomas More's Stan Bergman

Why he's Coach of the Year: After finishing the regular season with just three losses, Bergman's Sabers didn't lose again, with STM winning a Class 2A state title in Bergman's third season in charge of the program.

Season Highlight: Winning the 2A state volleyball championship

A few of my favorites ... Food: Pizza and chocolate. ... First car: Buick Regal. ... Non-sports hobby: Farming with Rodney Bergman (my dad) and fishing with Stuart Broeren (my step-dad). ... Restaurant in the area: Timpone's. ... Vacation destination: Greece. ... Sporting event I attended live: Cardinals' baseball games. ... Pro/college sports team(s): Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Cowboys and Florida State football. ... Band/musician: Nickelback/Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)

Three things on my bucket list: Going to the NCAA volleyball national championships, going to Australia to attend the Australian Open tennis and visiting family in northern Japan

What I enjoy most about coaching: "I enjoy being part of the development of friendships and relationships between the players and parents. They are what make the program work and the core of success. I also enjoy watching the fundamentals we work on constantly in practice become reality when we play as a team on the court."
