Parkland soccer teams on roll

CHAMPAIGN — Three more wins and the Parkland women’s soccer team gets to beat the unpredictable mid-November of East Central Illinois for a trip to Florida.

Getting away from the cold, however, only happens if the Cobras can continue their successful season once postseason play begins.

MAHOMET — Urbana volleyball coach Erika Mennig knew her young team had the ability to come back after dropping the first set of Monday’s Class 3A Mahomet-Seymour Regional quarterfinal match against the host school.

But the next two sets had to begin differently from the first, when the Tigers fell behind 17-9.

BLOOMINGTON — Dakota Harmon led Centennial with five kills in her team’s 25-19, 25-17 Class 4A regional quarterfinal victory, but it was just the beginning of the Chargers’ balanced attack.
