Three stars from regional wrestling

JAKE WENDLING, ST. JOSEPH-OGDEN

The junior was dominant as the 113-pound group's top seed at the Class 1A Shelbyville Regional. Wendling pinned his first opponent in 29 seconds before tallying a 10-0 major-decision triumph over the second. Wendling is now 35-3 on the season and leads a crew of five Spartans to the sectional round.

CODY MILLER, BHRA

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin pushed three athletes to sectionals, and the senior 220-pounder paced that charge. Aiming for his fourth trip to state, Miller succeeded in Shelbyville with a quick pinfall victory and a 6-1 decision result. Miller is now 44-1 in his final campaign with the Blue Devils.

NOLAN ROSEMAN, RANTOUL

Joining 145-pound teammate Peter McCusker as a podium topper, the 138-pounder Roseman upset top seed David Spencer, of Mahomet-Seymour, by a 12-6 decision in the 2A M-S Regional title match. It marked a repeat performance for Roseman, who is trying to make a return trip to State Farm Center.
