Thursday's prep highlights: Oakwood's Young posts 32 in win; Titans duo leads charge

In boys' basketball:

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 69, Fisher 43. Ryland Holt got GCMS off to a fast start with 10 first-quarter points, and the Falcons (7-2, 3-0) topped Fisher in Heart of Illinois Conference play. Connor Birky led GCMS with 15 points, while Holt finished with 12. Carson Brozenec led the Bunnies (3-8, 0-4) with 23 points.

Hawks dispatched tough LeRoy/Tri-Valley in dual action last week, travel to Coal City three days prior to Christmas.

2. Clinton 3

Horsch not resting on state runner-up laurels

GIBSON CITY — Eight area wrestlers suited up for a state championship match last February.

Four walked away with a title.

Out of the quartet that fell agonizingly short, just one athlete is still competing for their respective high school team this winter.
