DACC trustees set to vote on phone upgrades

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College trustees will vote Tuesday on whether to upgrade the campuswide phone system.

Officials said the upgrade, which would cost $83,306, would allow them to install new phones in about 80 classrooms, which instructors could use in case of an emergency situation.

Candidates file for Danville, DACC school boards

DANVILLE — Six people on Monday filed to run for the Danville school board in the 2013 consolidated election, and two people filed to run for the Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees.

DACC to vote on bonds for technology upgrades

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College trustees on Tuesday will take the final step in issuing $1 million in general obligation community college bonds.

The money will be used to upgrade technology and purchase equipment to provide state-of-the-art capital resources in classrooms and offices across the classroom, purchases that have been put off due to lack of available funds.

Extension of DACC president's contract up for discussion

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College trustees on Tuesday will discuss extending President Alice Jacob's contract.

CHAMPAIGN — An Urbana business, the University of Illinois and Danville Area Community College have been honored with 2012 state sustainability awards for their efforts to protect the environment, preserve resources and improve the economy.

DACC to consider bond for technology upgrades

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College trustees on Tuesday could take another step toward issuing $1 million in technology and equipment bonds to continue upgrading technology on campus.

Trustees will vote on an intent to issue bonds and to hold a public hearing on the matter in November.

DACC to host homecoming

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College will host its first alumni homecoming celebration in more than 30 years later this month.

The celebration will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at the college, 2000 E. Main St., Danville.

DACC to offer smoking-cessation class

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College will offer a class aimed at helping smokers kick the habit.

The American Lung Association's Freedom from Smoking program be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 9, 16, 23, 30 and 31 and Nov. 6, 13 and 20 at the Bremer Center on DACC's campus, 2000 E. Main St.

The class costs $50, and registration is capped at 15 participants.
