PEORIA — Former Urbana investment adviser Timothy J. Roth was sentenced Thursday to 12 years and 7 months in federal prison and ordered to pay more than $16 million in restitution to fraud victims.

Parkland Foundation chief to step down

CHAMPAIGN — Come June 30, Carl Meyer plans to hang up his hat as executive director of the Parkland College Foundation.

Meyer, 72, has served in that post since 1997. During that time, the foundation has raised $25.5 million for scholarships, programs and equipment.

Cetis to expand staff in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — Cetis Inc. plans to expand its staff in Champaign from 15 to 20, said John Grubb, the company's vice president of sales and marketing.

The company, which supplies hotels and other businesses with customized phones, has an office at 3362 Big Pine Trail, C.

That office handles marketing, outside sales, accounting and engineering, according to Grubb.

Alpha-Care acquires Peoria agency

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign-based Alpha-Care Health Professionals has acquired a Peoria home care agency, extending the territory Alpha-Care serves.

Alpha-Care acquired Circle of Life HomeCare on Dec. 31, picking up Circle of Life's 75 employees. That agency has served the Peoria area for more than 30 years.

Updated: First Busey net income drops for fourth quarter, all of 2012

CHAMPAIGN — First Busey Corp.'s net income for the fourth quarter of 2012 dropped 14 percent from a year earlier, the company reported Tuesday.

Meanwhile, net income for full-year 2012 fell 25 percent from the previous year.

Six groups considered bid for Volition

CHAMPAIGN — Six different groups looked at buying the Volition video-game studio before it was auctioned off to Koch Media last week, Volition's general manager said.

Warner Bros., Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, Koch Media and a group from the Chicago area each visited Volition in the two weeks or so preceding the auction to size up the studio, Dan Cermak said.

Fitness Center vacating older facility after 36 years

CHAMPAIGN — The Fitness Center will vacate its longtime home on Galen Drive in Champaign and consolidate at its recently acquired facility on Round Barn Road, its general manager said Thursday.

Rich Ruthenberg said the facility at 1914 Round Barn Road, C, will be enlarged and remodeled over the next few weeks, and the move from 2508 Galen Drive will likely come in mid-March.

CHAMPAIGN — Koch Media was the winning bidder for Volition Inc., the Champaign-based video game studio, according to court documents filed Wednesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

Timetable for housing depends on tax credits

CHAMPAIGN — A development official working on a new housing community at the former site of Joann Dorsey Homes says he hopes construction there can begin as soon as July or August of this year.

Permits issued for Dunbar Court replacement

URBANA — Building permits have been issued for the new Hamilton on the Park housing development that will replace Dunbar Court in north Urbana.

The 36-unit development will be built at the northeast corner of Wright and Eads streets, on the southeast side of Douglass Park.
