Veterans Affairs employees donate almost 1,500 pounds of food

DANVILLE — Employees at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System helped collect nearly 1,500 pounds of food this summer to help feed hungry families.

Letter carrier food drive nets 20,000 pounds of food in C-U

Residents in Champaign and Urbana donated nearly 20,000 pounds of food Saturday in a drive sponsored by letter carriers and the U.S. Postal Service.

Through the Stamp Out Hunger campaign, residents were able to donate nonperishable food by leaving it at their mailboxes to be picked up by letter carriers.

CHAMPAIGN — Letter carriers across America will be taking part in the nation's largest food drive of the year Saturday, but they need everyone's help.

For this 20th annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign, the Postal Service is requesting its customers to leave a sturdy bag of non-perishable food next to their mailboxes for letter carriers to pick up on Saturday.

Danville pantry seeks to restock shelves with food drive

DANVILLE — The Danville Area Food Pantry is holding its annual food drive this weekend to restock the pantry's shelves, which were nearly bare a few weeks ago.

Now in its 13th year, the Frostbite Marathon will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at County Market in Towne Centre, 2 E. Main St., Danville.

Stuff It food drive seeking more donations

CHAMPAIGN — The Stuff It Thanksgiving food drive needs help fast.

The sponsors hope to send 400 families home with a bag of food early Tuesday afternoon. But the effort is running about 180 bags of food short, says Josephine Underwood, secretary of the NAACP Champaign County, one of the sponsoring organizations.
