January is 12th straight month of rising home sales

CHAMPAIGN — Home sales in the Champaign County area were up in January for the 12th straight month, according to figures from the Champaign County Association of Realtors.

The association's Multiple Listing Service said 123 home sales were completed in January, up from 91 in January 2012.

Housing market gaining strength in Champaign County

CHAMPAIGN — Rising home sales, higher prices and shorter time on the market all point to a strengthening housing market in Champaign County.

Statistics released Tuesday by the Champaign County Association of Realtors' Multiple Listing Service showed November home sales were up 38 percent from a year ago.

Home sales up again, especially in Mahomet, Monticello, White Heath

CHAMPAIGN — Home sales in the Champaign County area continue to surge, with October sales up 29 percent from the previous year.

Certain parts of the area are enjoying even faster growth, according to the Champaign County Association of Realtors.

Home sales up 20 percent so far in 2012

The number of homes sold in the Champaign County area in September was roughly on par with September 2011 — but pending sales were running ahead.

The Champaign County Association of Realtors' Multiple Listing Service said 168 home sales were closed in September, compared with 169 home sales a year earlier.

August home sales 36 percent ahead of last year

CHAMPAIGN — Home sales in the Champaign County area continued at a strong clip in August, running 36 percent ahead of the same month last year.

A total of 287 home sales were closed in August, up from 211 home sales in August 2011, according to the Champaign County Association of Realtors' Multiple Listing Service.

Home sales enjoying a resurgence locally

CHAMPAIGN — July home sales in the Champaign County area were 18.5 percent higher than a year earlier, and pending sales indicate August will be a strong month too.

"July typically marks the end of the traditional peak season, but apparently not this year, given the massive surge in pending home sales," said Matt Difanis, president of the Champaign County Association of Realtors.

June home sales well ahead of 2011 figures

CHAMPAIGN — June home sales in the Champaign County area ran far ahead of June 2011, and certain types of homes aren't staying on the market long.

"Anything affordable in Mahomet has sold in an instant this year," said Matt Difanis, president of the Champaign County Association of Realtors. That includes homes in the $125,000 to $200,000 range, he said.

Home sales strengthen in much of area

Champaign County home sales enjoyed another strong month in May, with the number of sales surging 26 percent from the previous May.

Figures from the Champaign County Association of Realtors indicate 260 home sales closed in May, up from 206 a year earlier.

The value of those sales was $40.9 million, up from $30.6 million a year ago — an increase of 34 percent.

High-end home sales rebound in April

CHAMPAIGN — A rebound in high-end home sales helped propel April home sales in Champaign County — and prospects look good for a strong May.

April sales were up 19 percent from a year ago in terms of the number of homes sold. They were up 38 percent in terms of sales volume in dollars.
