Weekend of Aug. 11-12:
SJO5K
This is a 5K run and walk and a kids 1K fun run in St. Joseph on Saturday. The race is a fundraiser for the St. Joseph middle school and high school cross country programs.

Good luck to everyone doing the Champaign Park District Mini-tri on Saturday. I’ll be swimming this weekend at Evergreen Lake. The Fit List has runs, rides and tris coming up. Here’s the list:

Weekend of Aug. 4-5:
Two Rivers Century
This Kankakee County bicycle ride on Sunday offers six distances — 22, 47, 62, 80, 100 or 124 miles.

If you aren’t signed up to do the Champaign Park District’s Mini-Tri on Saturday, come out and cheer on the participants. The swim gets started at 7:30 a.m. at Sholem Aquatic Center, and you can watch folks bike and run around Centennial Park.

The Iron Abe Olympic Triathlon and the Stoneman Sprint Triathlon are on Saturday in Springfield.

Discover one of the Champaign Park District’s trails this weekend, at their CU on the Trails event.
The 5K run and walk highlights a trail, and this spring’s 5K features the Roby Trail that goes through Robeson Park. The run/walk is at 9 a.m. Saturday. You can register at Robeson Park from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

So many good causes to run for. Take your pick of several 5Ks in and out of town this weekend and the next, all for a cause.

Weekend of April 9-10:
— Safe Kids Safety Run
The Safety Run includes a 5K and 10K run, a 5K walk, and a 50-meter Kids Dash for kids under age 12.

The Fit List

There are several interesting races out of town this weekend, if you want to run with Abe in Springfield, run a 5K then eat some donuts in Normal, or get in an 8-miler in Effingham.
Run in town the next weekend, when there are a couple of 5Ks scheduled.
