Kyles expects to stay on ballot despite objection

A Champaign city council member said he expects to remain on the ballot for April's municipal election despite his petitions being challenged.

URBANA — Champaign County voters, both Republicans and Democrats, are guaranteed at least one countywide primary election contest in March.

Candidate filing opened Monday morning, and Democrats will have at least two contested primaries, one for county auditor and another for circuit court clerk. Republicans have a primary race for circuit court clerk.

Filing begins for seats in Iroquois County

WATSEKA — One of Iroquois County's newly redrawn voting districts already has a full slate of candidates for the county board in the March 2012 Republican primary election.

But by the time the first day of the filing period ended Monday, the three other districts need more candidates to come forward.
