It's Your Business: Brownfield Sports settling into Urbana location

Brownfield Sports has moved to the former English Hedgerow location at the southeast corner of Lincoln and University avenues in Urbana.

"We moved over the (July 4-6) weekend," said Kristi Brownfield, who noted the shop had been at Lincoln Square for 12 years.

Methodist churches join forces for Habitat house

CHAMPAIGN — Nine Methodist churches in Champaign County will start construction Saturday on a home for a Champaign family.

The churches have been working on this project, an "angel build" for Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County, for the past year to raise the money, round up the volunteers and line up child care and meals for workers.

Next Research Park building may include apartments

CHAMPAIGN — Living quarters may be coming to the University of Illinois Research Park.

Developer Peter Fox of Fox/Atkins Development said he's considering including some top-floor apartments in the next office building that goes up in the research park.

EPA to remove soil from homes south of Tilton

TILTON — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has decided to remove contaminated soil around 29 homes south of Tilton that have tested positive for high levels of lead and arsenic that likely drifted by wind and rain from a nearby zinc smelter site.

Sewage backup leaves families without home

CHAMPAIGN — City officials say they are still working with residents of four apartment units at a North Mattis Avenue complex where raw sewage backed up and poured out of the toilets, leaving residents' floors and belongings soaked with fecal matter.

Brendan Hsu realized many cellphones and computers can be fixed, rather than replaced, when damaged, and he's getting ready to move his repair business, fyxit, to a storefront along Green Street in Campustown.

Within the next week or so, fyxit is expected to open on the first floor of Park Place Tower, 202 E. Green St., C — the former location of Quick Package Pickup.
