Landmark Hotel broker says interest high as auction set to start

URBANA — With less than a week to go, several potential buyers have expressed interest in bidding in the auction for the former Landmark Hotel.

The auction begins Monday morning and runs through Dec. 13 on ten-x.com, an eBay of sorts for commercial real estate.

The property's broker, Steve Post of California-based Amber Hotel Company, said, "Interest has been high."

Small crowd rallies to save Burnham Mansion from Unit 4's wrecking ball

CHAMPAIGN — In 1961, when Bill Applebee was 10 years old, his family moved into the home next door to the Burnham Mansion.

Applebee said he often climbed trees outside the historic building. He played football in the mansion's front yard. And each day after school, he would deliver The News-Gazette to the mansion's residents as part of his paper route.

Danville Habitat chapter taking donations Tuesday at site of new ReStore

DANVILLE — Habitat for Humanity of Danville officials hope that people think of the chapter's work to provide safe and affordable housing in the community and its current renovation project on Giving Tuesday.

The local chapter will be accepting cash or check donations from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day in the parking lot of the future site of the Habitat ReStore at 422 N. Vermilion St.
