Demolition begins on former school in Westville

WESTVILLE — A crew began demolishing the former St. Mary's Catholic grade school building on Monday.

"It breaks my heart," the Rev. Timothy Sauppe said.

He said preparations for demolition had been going on for weeks as crews were slowly removing metal, wood and other salvageable materials from the interior.

Don Follis: Finding extended times of prayer

For the past 32 years Pastor John Piippo from Redeemer Fellowship Church in Monroe, Mich., (near Detroit) has prayed on Tuesday — for five or six hours.

In Piippo's view, the main job of the pastor is to abide in Christ. To stay connected to the vine, taking the image Jesus used in John chapter 15, Piippo contends pastors need to develop an extended prayer life.


C-U prayer day honors fatherhood

CHAMPAIGN — There weren't exactly 1,000 voices praying in Douglass Park Saturday morning, but there were well over 100 people gathered to celebrate fatherhood.

Danville congregation has temporary home after fire

DANVILLE — The Ridgeview Baptist Church has a temporary home for Sunday morning worship.

Pastor Mark Keyser said services will be held at 10 a.m. Sundays at the Executive Plaza, 3550 N. Vermilion St., a few blocks south of the church.
