After 27 years, Kam's getting new owner

CHAMPAIGN — No, Illini fans, Kam's isn't closing. But it is getting a new owner.

The Campustown bar beloved by many students and alumni is being sold, longtime owner Eric Meyer told The News-Gazette.

Campustown pizza place closes temporarily for remodeling

CHAMPAIGN — Campustown pizza joint Slice Factory has closed temporarily for some remodeling.

The restaurant at 625 E. Green St., C, is "just closed for remodeling," owner Dom DiDiana said in an email. "We will be re-opening soon."

The pizzeria opened last year next to Zorba's in Campustown, and is one of nine Slice Factory locations, all in Illinois.

Pavlov Media buys former Fluid Event Center to turn into new HQ

CHAMPAIGN — The former Fluid Event Center in Champaign has been sold to Pavlov Media, a Champaign-based company that plans to move its national headquarters there sometime next year.

A growing national provider of broadband and television services, Pavlov Media bought the building at 601 N. Country Fair Drive, C, for $2.3 million, according to county records.

CHAMPAIGN — Developer Chris Saunders bought the site of a former Mexican restaurant and grocery store in Campustown and plans to turn it into a seven-story apartment building.

Fundraising lunch to benefit Special Olympics set July 26 at Texas Roadhouse

CHAMPAIGN — Police officers from all over Champaign County are inviting people to eat lunch at Texas Roadhouse on July 26 to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers will serve a pulled-pork sandwich, corn, fresh-baked bread with honey-cinnamon butter and a non-alcoholic beverage. Diners are asked to leave a donation for their meal, which is valued at $10.

Owner Phosay Sesavath said he opened his Thai-Lao Cuisine food truck on June 9.
