"Friday Night Live" starts today in downtown Champaign. The free street-side performances run from 6 to 8 p.m.

CHICAGO — Whether he's anchoring the sports desk on CBS 2 or hosting any of the various in-house productions with Illinois athletics, you've likely seen Ryan Baker. And whether you realize it or not, you've probably seen Baker in person, too. He's often in Champaign for Illini sporting events, or to visit his parents, who moved to Urbana in the summer of 1991.

It has been a particularly blustery spring in the windiest corner of Champaign County. Actually, I don't know that statistically — either that this spring is any windier than the average spring where I live, or that my little corner of southwestern Champaign County is officially the windiest. Doesn't matter.
