Kathy Griffin will be making her first appearance in Champaign with a show at 8 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Virginia Theatre. Three things to know about the comedienne, whom you can see for $49:

1. Her first regular role in television was as Brooke Shields' sharp-tongued colleague in the NBC sitcom "Suddenly Susan," which ran from 1996 to 2000.
