This is your chance to run or walk for the bats, bees, birds, and the butterflies! Grand Prairie Friends’ 22nd annual Rattlesnake Master Run for the Prairie will be held on Sunday, November 3, at 9am at Meadowbrook Park, Urbana, IL. Race details at www.grandprairiefriends.org. The route meanders through beautiful Meadowbrook Park and includes t-shirts, race medals, door prizes, music, and free food for participants.
This 5K/10K Race and Walk benefits the preservation and restoration efforts of Grand Prairie Friends, a volunteer-led, non-profit land trust and conservation group. The woodlands, prairies, and wetlands in east central Illinois owned and cared for by Grand Prairie Friends provides habitat for endangered wildlife and is particularly important to pollinators and migrating birds.
Research on bat flyways and the benefits of artificial roosting sites is currently underway at their Warbler Ridge Conservation Area. This 1000+ acre area hosts public trails and an online trail tour to educate the hiker. Visit www.grandprairiefriends.org for more information.
