Public Works Director

The Village of Rantoul is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Public Works Director.

This position reports directly to the Mayor and the Village Administrator. Qualified applicants will be capable of managing overall operations and

personnel of the Electric, Wastewater, Water, Street, Gas, HVAC and Systems Maintenance

Divisions including planning, design, approval, construction, operations, maintenance, policy

development and work programs.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or the

equivalent knowledge, skill and intellectual

development is required. Additionally, candidate must have six to nine years of progressively

responsible administrative experience in the

operation and maintenance of community public works departments. Also, a thorough knowledge of Federal, State and local statutes, ordinances and codes related to services of utility operations.

Other qualifications include knowledge of the

operations of public water, wastewater, electrical, street, gas and systems maintenance divisions and related services, in addition to administrative

theory and techniques.

Desired candidate will have knowledge of

community governmental operations and its

relationship to the Village citizens.

A post-offer drug screen and background

investigation will be required of the selected

applicant. Requires possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
