Q: According to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s website, our region (Region 6) has met all four criteria for moving out of Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigation measures. Why has the state not moved us to Tier 2? Do the metrics the state has advanced mean anything or are they completely arbitrary?
A: The governor’s office and state health department were waiting to get past the holidays. It was likely that many communities would see a spike, like they did after Thanksgiving.
