CHAMPAIGN -- New COVID-19 cases in Champaign County rose by 28 Monday, and the numbers of active cases and close contacts in quarantine declined.

Of 19,772 total cases to date, 444 were active, 22 fewer than on Sunday, according to the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.

Close contacts in quarantine were down by 18, to 431.

The 7,838 new tests reported in the past day boosted the county’s total tests to 2,208,627.
