This time of year brings a parade of birthdays, between my husband’s family and mine.
I’ll eat just about any birthday-associated baked good, but one of my favorite treats is a chocolate-chip cookie cake baked by my friend, Erin Lippitz. She’s a master of both flavor and decoration, so her finished creations trump anything you’d order from a grocery-store bakery.
Erin’s cookie cake recipe might seem familiar — it’s a standard, well-known recipe for individual cookies. She swapped in cake flour and watches the cake carefully after 30 minutes in the oven.
